How do companies make money from selling IRA’s or other retirement plans?

Whether it is a 403(b), 401K, or just an IRA, how do companies make money from this. When you give them money doesn’t all of it go into the investment or do they hold some back for themselves? Or do they make money by not giving you the full amount of the invested money back. Like if it earned 10%, they would pay you 8% and take 2% for themselves. Or am I completly off and there is another way they make money.

I’m 28 and I have a steady job. I support 2 children on a very low income and my employer does not offer a retirement plan. I need to save, but at this point in my life, I cannot contribute regularly. I was thinking of opening an IRA with my credit union, but wanted to know if there is a better option for me.

I’m 31. No mortgage (i want to buy a house in a few years). I have two old 401k’s from my old companies. I have a several mutual funds through fidelity. I’m researching now to open an IRA through fidelity. total, i have about 20K i have for retirment. What’s a good percentage rate of return aim for for retirment (if i want to retire at 65) and do you all have any other advice how much i should set aside a month (right now i set aside 300$)? how much should i have saved up?

I have no credit card debt and about 5k in student loans.

I’m in my early 20’s and I wanting to retire as early as possible say between 40 and 45. I know its a bit of a stretch but it could be done. Should I put all that i can into my 401k and IRA or should I put most in an account where there isn’t any penalty for withdrawals since i would be retiring any where form 14 to 19 years before i start withdrawing from my 401k and IRA. If so what kind of account should i look into?

Can I use my IRA retirement account money for surgery?

I am planning on having surgery out of the country, since the surgery in US is too expensive, I am thinking to use the money I had saved in my retirement account( IRA) .
Can I use this money without paying a penalty?
Since is for health reasons.
Does it matter that the surgery will be performed in another country?
